Greetings,

Feeling grateful that this week was filled with some warm sun that made the autumn leaves even more vibrant.  We live in such a beautiful state here in VT.

This week in kindergarten we began having stations during reading workshop blocks.  We focused on letter ID, letter formation, and letter sounds in small groups.  We will continue this focus in the weeks to come.

During writing, we spent time brainstorming ideas to write about.  We also talked about when we think we are done we have just begun!  We can always add more details to our pictures and letters and words to explain our stories.  In word work, we focused on sorting pictures according to the first sound.  We also played a couple games of Memory where we had to find the matching letter or the matching rhyme. Kindergartners loved this challenge!

In Math, we started Unit 2.  This unit focuses on counting quantities and later comparing sizes.  We are also always incorporating practice with number formation and id. Students enjoyed creating numbers out of playdough this week.

Wishing you all good health during this fall season. Looking forward to seeing you at conferences and open house!
